VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS (VFW)

The Missouri Association of Veterans Organizations (MAVO) extends its deepest appreciation to the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States (VFW) for their annual sponsorship of the MAVO website. Your support strengthens our shared mission to protect veterans’ earned benefits, advance meaningful legislation, and ensure every Missouri veteran has a strong, unified voice in Jefferson City and Washington, D.C.

Who the VFW Is

The Veterans of Foreign Wars is one of America’s oldest and most influential congressionally chartered veteran service organizations. With more than 1.3 million members across the VFW and its Auxiliary, the organization unites combat veterans from every era — from World War II to today’s Global War on Terror — under the shared mission of serving and advocating for those who served.

The VFW provides:

  • Accredited VA claims assistance, helping veterans secure billions in earned benefits each year.
  • National legislative advocacy, including testimony before Congress and grassroots mobilization through the VFW Action Corps, a network of more than 300,000 advocates. Military Order of the Purple Heart
  • Direct support programs, including financial grants, mental wellness initiatives, student veteran support, and community outreach.

The VFW’s motto — "No One Does More for Veterans” — is reflected in its daily work, from local Posts to national leadership.

How the VFW’s Sponsorship Strengthens MAVO’s Advocacy

The VFW’s sponsorship of the MAVO website directly enhances Missouri’s statewide advocacy efforts by enabling MAVO to:

  • Deliver real‑time legislative updates on issues affecting Missouri veterans, including funding for the Missouri Veterans Commission, property tax exemptions, and protections against unaccredited "claims sharks.”
  • Coordinate unified action among Missouri’s congressionally chartered VSOs, ensuring lawmakers hear a clear, consistent message backed by the state’s largest veteran communities.
  • Expand outreach and education, helping veterans understand their benefits, rights, and the legislative issues that impact them.
  • Strengthen digital infrastructure, ensuring MAVO remains the central, trusted hub for veteran‑related legislative information statewide.
  • Support grassroots mobilization, amplifying the voices of Missouri veterans during rallies, hearings, and legislative sessions.

By supporting MAVO’s online presence, the VFW helps ensure that Missouri veterans are informed, empowered, and represented — not just during legislative sessions, but year‑round.
